Medical Eye Care

When Something Doesn’t Feel Right

Redness, pain, irritation, discharge, sudden vision changes, or a new problem with one eye can be difficult to ignore—and sometimes difficult to judge on your own.

Our doctors evaluate a wide range of medical eye concerns and can help determine what is causing the problem, what treatment may be appropriate, and whether additional care is needed.

What We Evaluate

  • red or irritated eyes

  • eye infections

  • eyelid inflammation

  • eye pain

  • sudden or unexplained changes in vision

  • flashes or new floaters

  • foreign-body sensation

  • light sensitivity

  • swelling

  • minor eye injuries

  • chemical exposure

  • unexplained tearing or discharge

Not every symptom means something serious, but changes that are new, painful, or affecting vision are worth evaluatin

Eye Problems Are Not Always Simple

A red eye can have many possible causes.

The same is true for blurred vision, pain, tearing, or light sensitivity.

That is why treatment should be based on what is actually happening rather than simply treating the symptom. An examination allows your doctor to look at the surface of the eye, eye pressure, vision, and other structures as needed.

When Should I Call?

It is a good idea to contact us when you have a new eye problem that is not improving, is causing significant discomfort, or is affecting your vision.

Examples include:

  • worsening redness or pain

  • persistent discharge

  • sudden blur

  • new flashes or floaters

  • sensitivity to light

  • a feeling that something is stuck in the eye

  • an eye injury

  • symptoms that are getting worse rather than better

Some Symptoms Need Immediate Attention

Sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, significant trauma, chemical exposure, or eye symptoms accompanied by neurological symptoms such as weakness, numbness, trouble speaking, or a severe sudden headache may require emergency medical care.

For chemical exposure, the priority is immediate flushing with clean water while seeking urgent medical guidance.

For serious trauma or sudden neurological symptoms, do not wait for a routine office appointment.

What Happens at the Visit?

Your doctor will evaluate your symptoms, vision, and eye health and perform additional testing as needed.

Depending on what we find, treatment may include medication, supportive care, monitoring, or referral to another specialist when appropriate.

The goal is to identify the cause and help you understand the right next step.

Don’t Guess When Your Eyes Are Telling You Something

Eye symptoms can be uncomfortable, confusing, and sometimes urgent.

Our doctors can evaluate the problem, explain what they see, and help determine the appropriate care.
