STEPHEN D. SCHAEFER, O.D., P.A. has served the families of
Georgetown and surrounding communities with compassionate, professional
care and understanding as a therapeutic optometrist and as a citizen of
Georgetown for many years.
He is a graduate of University of Houston and the University of Houston College of Optometry.
He has been Chairman of the Board of the Georgetown
HealthCare System for 20+ years. He has seen the hospital go from a 20
bed facility to the
multiplex it is now.
He was a charter member of the Georgetown JayCees, and the Sun City Rotary Club.
He was an active member of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse for over 20 years and served as their Captain for 5 years.
He helped co-ordinate the Texas Mission of Mercy as a volunteer for 2
years. The Texas Mission of Mercy is a traveling organization that
provides vision, dental and basic health checks for those who fall
between the cracks of the system.
He was Director of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce for 2 terms.
He serves as Director of the Mary Bailey Child Development Center in Georgetown.
Dr. Schaefer was also on the Planning Committee for “Keep Georgetown
Best”, and he served on the committee for the development of the
Georgetown logo.
Dr. Schaefer participates in healthcare
screenings at Southwestern University, Georgetown Hospital and the Mary
Bailey Child Development
Center.
He is a member of the
American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, Central
Texas Optometric Association and the Foundation for
Vision.
Dr. Schaefer regularly attends Continuing Education classes as a part
of his ongoing commitment to education and professional development.
The one thing that Dr. Schaefer and his wife are most proud of is their
daughter, whom he inspired to also become a Doctor of Optometry.

DONNA L. McCAIN, O.D. grew up along the northern coast of South Carolina. She graduated with honors from Loris High School and holds two Bachelor degrees from Coastal Carolina University. She moved to Texas to pursue her doctorate degree at the University of Houston, College of Optometry. There she met her husband Jason McCain, OD who brought her to his hometown, Georgetown, TX. She is very happy to be here, to raise their family in Georgetown and serve the community with her husband at San Gabriel Eye Center.

JASON McCAIN, O.D. grew up here in Georgetown, Texas. He
served four years in the U.S. Navy as a medic and optician, where his
desire to become an optometrist began.
After his service, he worked at San Gabriel Eye Center in the
Optical Shop while attending the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. He
graduated from UMHB with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. From there,
he moved to the Houston area and received his Doctor of Optometry
Degree from the University of Houston.
Dr. McCain is married with two
wonderful children, and is now back home serving the people and
community that he loves.
